MILL HOUSE

The client here owned a typical turn of the century mill house. With lots of original features; it was felt an approach of “old meets new” would work best. The original house layout was left as was, with the addition of an open plan kitchen, diner, utility and good size family bathroom first floor. The design was such that only minimal alterations were required to attach the new to the old.

A long modern extension across the back makes the most of the sunny garden, linking back into the old house with a large ope to the main front room, and a glazed door to the existing hall.

As with a lot of house renovations; when rationalising the plan, many opportunities were found for clever banks of storage and shelving.

“We couldn't be happier with how our house was transformed and would have no hesitation recommending CR Architecture - in fact, we already have! Carol took time to understand our goals and, throughout the design process, was both thoughtful and realistic as we balanced budgets with wish-list features. On top of that, she was hands-on during the tender and build while also having a roster of excellent tradespeople to recommend as required. This was a once-off project for us and it was so reassuring to find someone we could trust.“
